I have a predator 212 that I recently got on a mini bike frame.

The problem is when I started it earlier it was running away and going full speed so I messed with the throttle read some forums and put it on start instead of run mode and now it's still starting and continuing to run but I thought this was supposed to force it to idle?

I'll post some pictures of the throttle setup asap

Well that long thin spring isn’t attached in the right spot, but it sounds like you have a possible idle speed or air/fuel mixture problem. If the engine is getting too much air, it will race.

Tell us more about the engine, is it brand new and what did you do to it?

Start mode is “choke on” which lessens the air amount in the intake/carburetor and “richens” the fuel amount for easy starting. If putting the engine on start/choke doesn’t make it stall, stop or slow down, you have a problem with too much air it appears. Check your gaskets and make sure you run it with the air filter and carburetor firmly attached to the engine.

It looks like you have at least one spring in the wrong place. The long, skinny spring that is around the governor linkage rod should not be hooked to that steel plate. I think it goes to the throttle on the carb.

The throttle blade is on the wrong side of the stop. Remove the plastic idle speed screw move the lever out of the way and reinstall the screw. Trust me.

Good eye Denny, that's undercoverphone4's problem. The black plastic throttle blade "actuator" (who knows the proper term for this?) is trapped between the idle speed screw and the "stop" on the carburetor body. Whoops. 😨

Red is (w)RONG, green is GOOD:

The long spring with hooks on each end is only to prevent excess play in the linkages; it takes up the slack and prevents the throttle from fluctuating.

Per W.T.R,'s photo above in post #7, one end fits in the little hole in the governor arm, the other end fits in the little hole in the black plastic throttle arm/actuator.

So the spring on the thin metal rod is on there properly now but the other spring mine is long and different idk it's not short the main spring that links the governor and throttle
