After cleaning out the carbs, the predator 212 no longer starts

Hiya,

A couple days ago, I got a killer deal on a minibike. It came with a predator 212.

Yesterday, I got the engine running, but it wouldn't run off choke. This morning, I picked up some carb cleaner and cleaned out the carbs. After reassembling it, the predator will no longer start..

How many carbs have you "cleaned? "

We usually completely disassemble and boil in lemon juice.

Spray a little carb cleaner in the throat and see if it runs for a second or two...and report back.

Another clean Is needed... Must have jammed a bit of junk in one of the tiny holes...
Take it apart again.. Blow out the holes with air.. Make sure the gaskets are oriented correctly..
If all else do a lemon juice boil... That'll take care of most if not all.
Edit: Poboy beat me to it...

Im a total noob when it comes to engines. This is the first carb ive ever worked on.

When you say the throat, do you mean behind the carb or in the carb itself?

Again, a total noob.

Alright, I've got it running somewhat. I have to keep throttling it to keep it on. Very temperamental. Any ideas?

Idle was waaay low. The idle works a whole lot different than I thought it did. To the commenters who meant well, thank you so much!

Yeah...your carb is probably still dirty. (Or possibly you're idle needs adjusting) ...but do this first....either jack it up so the back wheels are off the ground or disconnect the chain....

Now..while opening up the throttle with the air filter off....let it build up some speed...then put your hand on the end of the carb until it almost dies...remove your hand and let it build up speed again and repeat...maybe 10 times.

What sometimes happens is puts a stronger pressure on some of the passages and can sometimes break clogged areas free.

Keep us informed. Google "Predator idle "...or maybe another helpful member will help you out with that.

As crazy as this sounds, it works. If it don't, then you have an obstruction in an idle circuit or transfer slot. They are the little holes right by the throttle blade. Put the straw on your can of carb cleaner and blow backward through all of those followed by a healthy dose of compressed air and you'll probably be good to go.

Hiya,

I posted here yesterday about my 212 being a pain. I was told to clean my carb and all that fun stuff. I cleaned out the carbs and got her running.

Today, I choppered up of the minibike because it was a bit lame otherwise. Now the engine is at a slight angle but not too bad.

The engine quickly dies after being started or sometimes I can get it started, but it dies when revving it up.

Thought it was the carbs, so I put a carb on there that I knew that works. Same problem.

Think its from the slight angle of the engine due to the chopper style body?

Ugh, another thread on the same problematic Predator. You can just add onto your other thread you know--compile all your issues into one thread; one neat, tidy package.

What gives? I thought everyone loved photos and sharing photos.

I had to use the choke to start mine.
Then I had to switch it to "RUN"and keep tapping the throttle for a minute for it to warm up.
THEN I can give it throttle and go.

If it runs better with the choke on, it might not be getting enough gas.
It might be jetted too lean.
Or the carb passages are clogged.
Choke restricts the air, making the air fuel ratio richer.
There might be an issue getting the fuel from the tank to the carb.
You can try with the gas cap loose.
You can try a new spark plug? <-not sure what this would do, but sometimes just got to eliminate stuff.

Gravity or Fuel Pump?
