OK, hit HF this after, asked a few questions.... This is what I was told....

HF catalog #60349; old design, (the original Predator 420 cc design); being phased out because the newer design more easily meets emissions. Inventory in stock has full warranty; if you buy one and have a problem, they will exchange/ replace with either this P/N or the #60340 based on store inventory.

Remember, ALL OF THE WARRANTY TERMS APPLY..

The manager really stressed the warranty rules; apparently HF is having/ has had problems with people trying to play games...

HF catalog #60340; US EPA compliant model of current design.

HF catalog #69736; California CARB compliant model of current design; may also be the off the shelf model in States that have adopted CARB standards....

Hope this helps....

 :cheers2:  Pat

:wai: That is not a fuel pump, as the fuel hose is coming out of the tank directly to the carb. Another question, why would you need a fuel pump on a gravity fed system? That box is some kind of EPA/CARB vapor system.

I don't see how you can tell where the fuel lines go from that one picture.

I've had carbed motorcycles with fuel pumps.

But it was just a thought. Probably is some form of vapor recovery system.

BTW, I live in Fort Wayne too, maybe someday we'll meet.

In other words, just go to HF and buy whatever version is on the shelf.

Dang, you beat me to it, I was going to stop at HF today after work... although I did call HF's "tech support" hotline the other day. They had no idea of the differences and simply stated that the three models are all the same, just coming from different suppliers from around the company. It was pretty pointless to call them.

What "games" are people trying to play with the warranty that the manager was talking about?

:wai: On any of the three item numbers, click on the item number and double click the picture. Look right under the throttle lever and you can see the fuel hose coming from the tank directly to the carb. Where are you located in the Fort? I am on the SE side off Wayne Trace.

people playing games....
I heard on one site, buddy took a piston out of a new motor(from a hemi motor?, a flat head or dished???.) and replaced it out of another motor, returned the motor and said it didnt work, while keeping the removed piston.
An example....
