Hi everyone, my first post on this forum.

I am thinking about building a electric go kart, my biggest trouble is the Motor Speed Controller, since I want to build my own circuit to use on my kart, I want to know what is an easy way to manage the motor speed.

Straight from battery to motor, I have attached an image I drew of what makes sense to me, but I would definitely appreciate feedback, and why my understanding of a ESC will not work,

Thanks,
Christopher.

I'm not an "electric guy" but as I understand things, you will not find a potentiometer capable of handling the sort of current (amps) that the system will draw.

Hey, yeah that makes sense, I didn't even think about that....
So a circuit that makes it possible for a potentiometre to be used will work.

If I look at this circuit, I can see a potentiometre being used.

If you do a forum search with the words "speed controller" you get a whole bunch of threads that could help you out. Look at the ones that fall under the electric section.
