Powerfist 6.5 help

Hey all this is my first post on the forum and I really need help. I'm building a little kart and the engine I have for it refuses to run properly. It's a 6.5 hp powerfist engine. Every time it starts it idles fine and any throttle input is fine but as soon as you let off it spits sputters and dies. After it takes about 10-15 pulls to even get started again. I cleaned the carb out thinking it was fuel starved but no change. I have no idea what it could be? Any help would be appreciated

Im no mechanic but maybe check the idle run jet. Take a piece of wire like one stran and run it through the jets then blow air through it. If its getting fuel to the bowl and spark to the plug than I bet one of the jets is plugged. There are tiny little holes in the bowl bolt and emulsion tube that must be cleaned as well.I have seen some so packed with crude you couldnt even see the hole.
like I said im no mechanic this is just general advice but it is where I would start.
Just spraying carb cleaner in the throat will not clean it. You must take it all apart. I hope this helps some.

Thanks I'll give the wire trick a shot but the engine only has about 2 hours run time on it do you really think it could be gummed up that badly. (Another side note it has been sitting outside a while. I've already replaced fuel)

I totally would, however my grandpa bought it like 10 years ago and stuck it in his garage never used. That's where I got it...

Ahhh... Should have started with that...

Yes there is defiantly a clean needed... Might need to take a look at the carb gaskets might be dried and cracked...
Go over all pieces and might need to do a lemon juice boil...

Sitting that long it would've collected a lot of dust... everywhere, then said dust gets sucked into the carb; I'd pull down & thoroughly clean the carb as suggested...

There's another good point, dry gaskets means the carb could be sucking air from somewhere it's not supposed to...
