Im in the marine industry and many times every day we use a de-carbonizer in a spray can called power tune, under the mercury name. its been around in all the marine shops for many years. 2 an 4 stroke engines. Warm up engine and spray into carb, ya might have to throttle up ... its gonna smoke a lot, prolly concern the neighbor but its cleaning your engine of carbon an varnish.
I everyday use it like carb cleaner, cuz its a foamy spray and i can see it coming out of jet passages, unlike carb cleaner that always ends up in my face!
It cleans brass jets extremely good, especially if ya let it soak in a little cup. I service a lot of carbs, and this is #1 tool
Theres been a few jobs that customers actually said how much better there boat runs, and all it alone was this spray!
We see a lot of trolling type engines, loaded and little rpm. equals carbon an modern fuel problems, gasoline sucks today
Any marine should have this can, Mercury calls it power tune. Tsc even sells it called decarbonizer but i don't know the quality of product.

You can do the same thing with this product called H2O....It's a bit cheaper...and does the same thing.

I know you may not believe me...but I was doing the same thing with water over 40 years ago....and it does the same thing!!!!

Side note, Spray this into carb vent an let sit overnight, minor carb blockage can be cleared. on a jap carb i will pull bottom bowl plug an spray till it comes out vent. and go home, That some times works compared to a complete carb job. cuz often times its just a minor clogg? It can get pricy doing 4 carbs on one out-board,i hate charging people just cuz of bad gas breakdown.

I didn't want to say so, but yes ! a running engine and water will steam away carbon. lmao but this spray crap really is the ****z

In respect to Poboy, the cylinder results are similar, but in the carb and general use this product works

Fair enough....there's something at the local small engine repair store called mechanic in a bottle or something.....(I've never tried it)

Now...quit lying....we both know. the 90% of cause of small engine failure is. CARBONATION!

G.M. top engine cleaner Ford, Chrysler, Mercury, Johnson and Evinrude all just plain old Seafoam. Now don't tell nobody else, it will be our little secret.

Just to clear and explain, water does remove carbon in combustion chamber, so does an anti freeze leak, wasn't my point. This product will free sticking rings and other parts from storage problems , Spray it into carb vent and set overnight, if you take carb off engine and use it like carb cleaner etc, its gotta have time to dissolve and it does. Its not some snake oil thing

---------- Post added 04-02-2016 at 12:11 AM ---------- Previous post was 04-01-2016 at 11:57 PM ----------

Ppl bring me carburetors, I have sonic cleaner and other fancy stuff, but never used. Marine tuner (many labels) carb cleaner and wire sizes. No rate charge, im slow at anything! Im paid very well but not for my speed, We should start a Carburetor Section?

---------- Post added at 12:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:11 AM ----------

we obviously cant see if the piston rings got cleaned. Im talking about a product I use every day with hands down results, and seafoam fuel treatment, I see lots of STABIL problems (red), that product all by itself will end up being a huge carb problem. I have many examples to prove. Its always over-used etc. SeaFoam is a very old product and worth its cost, in fuel problems. and its also a petroleum product. not some modern mixture, lol like our gas now?

---------- Post added at 12:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:27 AM ----------

I hear customers talk, they added this n that, cuz of ethanol, well 3 strange products plus engineered gasoline is a cocktail of problems?

---------- Post added at 12:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:32 AM ----------

Mercury call it power tune, Evinrude calls it Tuner. Stay with that, ive used the sierra version and its not the same! And again use it like carb cleaner, but give it some time to work.

I'll 2nd power tune it engine tuner. Use it everyday too and it's all he claims it to be. On 4 strokes you do need to change oil after a cleaning cycle. Another product that actually works is Yamaha ringfree. Shock treat your fuel system and it can clean injectors aND fuel pumps
