I've been stalking Mike Rowe lately and am a big fan of his cause for the skilled trades. He's torqued up about it because on his show Dirty Jobs he's seen the underbelly of our infrastructure and we are in a world of hurt, needing people who can actually DO things. Yet we have been plagued by bad advice that everyone should go to college with the hope of doing nothing.

I know this board has a lot of young people who "do" and are looking for what to do in the future. I myself went to college...then dropped out in favor of technical school. Then went back to college and dropped out again in favor of working and making money. And I'm doing well today because of my tech school education.

Once it was called the "school of small engine repair," a title often said with a sneer. But now the field had broadened and appreciated in value as Power Sports Technology. I found that out when I saw this video and found it pretty cool So I'm sharing it with you all. Enjoy and discuss!

Didn't bother to watch the video. I'm very familiar with Mike Rowe's opinions on the shortage of trained tradesmen in the workplace. Problem is that there are plenty of UNSKILLED illegals ready to fill those jobs for way less and plenty of ignorant employers thinking that is a good idea to hire them.
Lose-lose all the way around.

We have the same problem over here so, what do employers do? IMPORT WORKERS! For this reason, the rules for work visas has recently changed so that employers now have to exhaust all local possibilities before resorting to importing...
