You would be better off selling it and get something a little more current that you can still get parts for. Put it on Ebay and see If anybody bites. If this engine throws a rod and blows the case, you're done.
Maybe $3.00 scrap metal.
If I was looking for engine, I would go this route:
http://www.usmotorpower.com/820.htm
Very impressive specs with up to 11 hp stock.
Could probably be purchased with money you get from sale of AH47.

How much do the 820s cost? I didn't see any info on this...

Are the parts the same as on the earlier models?

Can only guess. $400-$500?. AH47 may be worth about that if the right buyer sees it posted somewhere as I mentioned in previous post.
I would make offer but garage is filled with engines I'll never get to.
Would be a shame to destroy this engine given it's age and place in karting history.

$550 plus shipping. Those are nice engines but, I don't have quite that much to spend. Not yet anyway!

I recieved the little AH47 and it arrived with a broken motor mount plus the engine is completely worn out. (Advertised as a running engine that just needed a teardown and inspection)

I checked the compression and it's only 50 psi after several pulls. It has a good spark and the engine will fire and run on a small amount of starting fluid.

I think I may rebuild it, that way it would be easier to sell. I'll have to see if the piston rings are still available.

Russ, I'll get a few pics for you when I get back from vacation!
