That one is an upgraded version. Nice too - bull barrel, BX trigger, scope rail. I do however, think a beginner should get proficient with iron sights before adding a scope. Like learning to drive a stick before going automatic.

I’m a firm believer in iron sights, they’ll get you home when the optical sighting device fails. But I understand the logic that some weppins are scope-only.

Wait for a sale, $250 is steep for this version. Nice used one at a pawn shop would be cheaper, but if he's not familiar with firearms, might want new for extra cash.

I agree. They’ve been an affordable basic rifle (in basic form haha) for forever. Why pay more?
Don’t forget the banana magazines, for gorilla warfare. :cornut:

The 25 round mags are a must and I only recommend the Ruger branded ones. Heard some bad things about the P-mag and aftermarket ones. Extended mag release and auto bolt release make it way more enjoyable. Kidd Designs make top notch aftermarket upgrades. Extra firing pins to keep on hand. Only real weakness of some of the 10/22's, they break easily and don't like to be dry fired.

I like the Marlin cheap .22 semi auto rifle. I bought mine from Kmart for 49.95 with a scope. It’s had about a million or so rounds run through it with no problems. Likes the Remington cheap rounds the best.

Is it the Marlin Model 60? I have mine still from my childhood. Mine might be the Glenfield Model 60. Same rifle just changed names at some point in the 70's I believe. Does it have the etched squirrel in the stock and 18 round tube feed under the barrel?

Mine sat in my parents basement till 1999. Took it out one day and it would only fire one round then nothing. It sat again till about 2018 in my basement. Got it out one day and polished the bolt and inside the receiver. Replaced action spring and it now shoots like brand new! Love that rifle! Lots of memories as a kid.

Air guns anyone?

I've not had a BB gun since I was kid and decided I need something quiet to cull the tree rat population around my house. Several live oaks and a giant pecan tree are keeping the area crawling with these pests. My wife thought they were cute until one got in our attic, chewed open an electrical wire, got fried and stunk the place up. I now have license to kill.

So check out the Umarex Komplete .22. Way better than the Crossman pump I had as a kid. With the gigantor suppressor, it is quiet, so the neighbors will not get their panties in a wad. At 30 yards (my living room, out a back window and to the fence), it's a tack driver and will put a pellet through 3/4" decking (oops). I know some of you get to shoot the real thing from your back porch (Envy!). This is my answer to getting to do the same thing. Woo hoo!
