But she can drive it?
Says she could, might take her a bit. Only thing at the moment that has a manual gearbox in my possession is that old poorly DIY'd VW car someone fabricobbled (emphasis on cobbled) back in the late 80s or 90s. Still need to get a proper rail frame and just swap the stuff to it.

Same here. I now have my first automatic automobile but have been driving manuals forever. Part of it is something akin to snobbery, “I drive a stick shift and am better than you” and then just preferring the “more control” that a manual offers and being sort of a purist. Slushboxes to this day are less reliable than a manual.

Stop and go traffic can suck but there’s ways around it with a stick shift. With the dreaded accordion effect and a sea of brake lights on the interstate for example, you simply open up the following distance (stop riding his bumper) of the car ahead of you and trundle along in 2nd or 3rd. If it’s stop and go traffic on a downhill, just put it in neutral and let gravity do its thing. Otherwise, yes, what a hassle.
Until the ahole sees that you left a 10 ft gap and weasles his way in because its 3 ft further than his lane.... Then the whole line of aholes follow suit.
