81 RX7... Beautiful car! There was one down the street with the 302 conversion, and man... if I had the means, I'd jump on it. Oh well. My dream Mazda would be the 85 with the conversion.

Is it a 1.8T? I have a Giac Tip chip for it. The chip addresses the "lazy" shifting as delivered from the factory, without losing any smoothness. Users of this chip have described the results as similar to "superbike" shifting! The GIAC trans chip solves gear "hunting" under full throttle caused by the massive torque of a well designed engine chip. Good cars though.. I had a 1.8T putting 304WHP down on the ground. Stock was 180HP. Of course I had to get a level 10 Tip makeover though to handle the TQ.

Not bad for that price. Wish I saw that and it was closer to me... I have the VAG tools to pulll the heads off and the belt. 95% chance the valves are bent. If you can do it yourself, I would keep it.....or part it out.

weve done it twice before. audi/vw have a high tendency to break the timing belts on the 2.8l.
my moms passat was like this. one of the valve heads actually broke off. we fixed it and a week later the timing belt broke again :furious2:

BTW no special vag tools needed. just need to take the whole front off. also a pain in the :censored:
