I have a 2007 hammerhead 250 ss go kart that I just put a carb on due to a rough idle. But with the new carb it reves way higher and if only went for 4 20-30 minute rides once I am done I always shut it off then restart it for rides 1-3 it started right back up but on the forth ride it didn't want to start and at the end it stated spudering so I put it away and shut it off. Also since it is winter I didn't use my fans which I had to put on a swich becuse they broke. But for some strange reason I am concerned and scared that because,it is reving much higher that maybe it causing engine damage. But what I want to know is should I not rev it as high and should I use my fans I really want to know before I blow it up because that would be expensive.

Fans are always important. I'd check to make sure your spark plug is in good shape. It sounds like a flooded engine to me but I'm not very familiar with your specific engine

Your old carb probably just needed a good cleaning.

Your new carb is not tuned properly to that engine.

A high idle is not gonna hurt your engine. What happens when you normally give it throttle? The engine rpms go up.
NOW, what will damage your engine is no oil or too much heat. I'm assuming the fans are for a liquid cooled engine? You didn't mention that and I'm not familiar with your model. If this is the case, then no fan=poor cooling and thus over heating= bad!

yepp.. too much fuel!

turn down the fuel mix on the carb, make sure the "auto-choke" [in case your carb came with it]
is not engaged all the time [could happen if the terminals are flipped I heard]

and once done, you should be okay ...
but as whitetrashrocker said:
clean your old carb properly, worst case you'll have a replacement laying around for the next carb-cleaning session ;)

best case you can just swap back and run the original carb and have a new replacement carb on the shelf "in case" ;)
