Hey guys, it's been almost 3 years since I posted on here last! My original post is here:

I've had this bike sitting undone in my garage for a while now and I decided since work is slow at the moment, I would bring it in to work and try to finish it off!
I finally got the engine going and made up an "exhaust" for it. Also a guy at work lent me his peanut tank from his 70s Harley.. It's a little big but it kind of suits the overall look of the bike! Also, I went for more of a Cafe racer look with the lower handle bars. I managed to set up a brake on the rear wheel that works relatively well! I still have to set up the jackshaft though, but at least I finally got the engine running! (it loves avgas, not sayin where I got it tho!)

Very nice and attractive bike. Just think of the total range you're going to have with that tank...


Bike will be perfect for the coming Apocalypse! :cornut:

I will probably try to finish my original tank eventually, but this one is ok for now! I have a video of the engine running that I will post soon.. It's a bit loud!! Thats ok though since I will be driving around the hangar mostly (i'm an aircraft mechanic)

I do believe it is one like this.. Im not sure the brand because there are no markings at all on the bike.. I think there might of been but when I painted it decades ago I probably sanded any stickers off that might of been there.. From the research I have done I think it might be a Norco Dirtmaster, or a knockoff brand..

Well, its been a little while but I have the jackshaft complete! I've taken the bike on a few runs and it works pretty well! Not the fastest thing in the world, but I built it more for show than anything! Maybe later on I will get a few performance parts for the engine and possibly even a proper expansion chamber exhaust!

Firstly where abouts do you put you feet on that.... and secondly more of a safety factor.... you need chainguards on that... especially for the front drive chain......

I have some bmx pegs on the rear (as you can see in the pic) for now until I figure out a more permanent solution. A chain guard is definitely in the works! I'm sure glad I put extra cushioning in that seat though! If I wasn't already snipped,this bike would definitely vibrate my chances of having any other kids away!

I see...
If it were me, Id mount a bracket to hold some pegs where the kickstand boss is. Its central, and a sturdy flat surface to work with...
An idea.

That would be a good idea, but my brake bracket is mounted there.. Only solid place I could mount it.. I might end up welding something to the forward down tube so that my feet are a little bit ahead of the jackshaft (another reason to make chain guards!).

Get a longer bolt, mount the peg bracket on top, incorporate a tab or two for the chain guard. One could put the pegs on a short arm, offset to the exact place where you want it....
Just have a plate to span and clear the sprockets....

A triumph TR6C footpegs comes to mind.... offset from the mount point...

I say you should swap the right side sprockets.. both
to properly cut ones.. those teeth are likely going to shred the chain much sooner than necessary.
you could file the tips, but I don't think it'll be even worth the hassle tbh.

Cool bike.. overall.. I think I'd rather add a set of pegs where the pedals would've been,
just because that's a tempting place to put your feet... and well...
running your knuckle into a rotating chain (or that sawblade of sprocket) :eek:
Anyways.. as far as I can see you run a hollow jackshaft..

so a set of ball bearings to fit in a say 1/2" bolt would do (the bigger the better)
just so that they stop rotating after you put your feet down.

A sprocket/chain guard is a good idea nonetheless of course :D

I did a run today with a speedometer app (not sure how accurate it actually is) and my top speed if 43km/h which is plenty fast for this bike! I definitely get a few looks while I'm driving it! Everyone asking what the heck it is! Anyways, I'm pleased with how it is turning out. On an unrelated note:

Yay! Free engine! Its a Honda gx120 that was in pieces that I managed to get running again. I'm thinking I will have to make a small kart for my kids now..

when you did your jack shaft set up.how did you get the bearing in there.on mine i had to grind about a 1/8 of inch around, than take a 1 inch bolt and tighten until it pressed the bearings in on both sides.

It wasn't too bad actually! I had a couple bearings from a snowmobile drive shaft and they pretty much fell in place! I did have to grind away some imperfections in the tube but besides that, they fit pretty well!

There ya go... now its looking proper.... and alot less prone to leg shredding....
