On a serious note, I agree totally. I mean thanks to spam, we had to spend our time making this thread and commenting, when we could be working on our karts!

Yes. That was what I was referring to. This site can be set up the same way in ADMIN CONTROL PANEL.
Mods cannot make any of these changes. Sometimes the site itself has to have a mod installed. I can help with that if it comes to that as I understand the modding process with PHP files.
You can set it up to ask simple questions, yes or no questions, or you can use math. Its up to your creative mind to think of the questions. In the past I have used 2 + 2 =
and so on... The idea is not to make it too complex for users to have to register. The idea is to make sure they are a real person, and not a bot, or someone simply signing up to spam. Again, there are many options. One of the best options would be to upgrade to xenforo as I have not had ONE spammer sign up since moving from vb to xenforo. This is not a xenforo sales pitch, just saying.

Absolutely. There is reaction, and there is proaction. Right now, we react to spam. To proact upon it would mean that the spam would never make it to post.

just saying... I don't think the mods or admins what to continue to see limp pecker ads. One or two is not an issue. Its when you get one turd head post in every category in every forum and every post about limp pecker ads is when there is a major problem. I see it happen all the time even on the best protected sites.
You want the OP's original post to be ignored? Or do you want to direct the outcome of the solution? Be a part of the solution don't just ignore the issue. It is a very serious problem.
I personally don't want to read about limp pecker pills. If you do then my apologies. If the rest on the site want to read about limp pecker pills then simply sit back and do nothing or work on your go kart while the admins and mods figure out if they want to do anything. In the meantime I choose to be of help in anyway possible and be part of a solution to the original post.

And yet, you not only chose to read "this bs", you chose to reply to it.

As far as choosing not to use the site because of spam, honestly- that makes about as much sense to me as choosing not to ride your kart because of an occasional misfire. Here's a cool idea- let's work on solutions, rather than ignoring the problems. Most of us would rather do a little troubleshooting, rather than miss out on all the fun...

Choosing to ignore it is a perfectly viable option for you, and you are well-justified in doing so.

On the other hand, if the mods didn't kill as much spam as they (we) do, and rather quickly, I personally guarantee you'd be hard-pressed to ignore that much of it. Kinda like running thru the forest trying to ignore trees. Good luck, my man.

Meanwhile, the others are well within reason choosing not to ignore.
