Hello! I am in a bit of a predicament. I have wheels that have 5/8 inch bearings. I would like to fit them into a rear axle. My problem is that nobody sells a 1-inch axle to a 5/8 stepdown. I thought I could use a wheel hub, but if fitted on, the axle still can't go through the wheel bearing, therefore nothing prevents it from falling off. I have no welding tools, all wood, and PVC. Please help!

Hello and welcome....
This is really going to stir up the pot here... but off hand I hear ya, it rough out there for money.. but wooden karts arent that good.... IDK what the PVC pipe is going to do.... but Id hope thats not a frame in the plans....

Post some pics of what you have and or want to build.... especially those wheels you plan to use....

No worries, the frame is sturdy and bolted with no bend, and the front steering is already established. Its only the rear axle and wheels, where welding isn't even necessary in my case. Please help if you can.

Those are the wrong wheels intirety.. they are a driven wheel.
They are meant for a cart or hand truck...
They will not handle any applied power.

You need to find a more common size 3/4" or 1"
