I bought this off fb market place for $275 and need to order spindles for it but have spent the last couple hours trying to figure out what frame it is with no luck at all. The frames been repowdercoated.

Does anyone know?! Please help.

Thank you!

Spent a while looking up karts. You're right, it is hard for these types, so many different models and revisions over the years.

The closest I could find was a website that had a 1976 Hartman Blue Streak. If it is yours, it looks like yours is missing part of the front end. It was the only one I could find where the upper front bumper bar mount points matched yours where they are right next to the front tires.

Although the side bumpers don't match. In your opinion is everything truly original? Are there any different color/different layers of paint showing through? It's pretty easy to add a couple welds and repaint the whole kart and it ends up looking like a completely different model.

Plus with the front part of your kart missing there may have been some damage at one point and they replaced the side bumpers from a different model.

Here's the links I found:

http://www.vdm46.com/hartman-kart-id.html
http://www.vdm46.com/uploads/7/2/3/1/7231707/6261628.jpg
http://www.vdm46.com/uploads/7/2/3/1/7231707/4798734.jpg

More than likely it's not your kart, but those front ends are the closest I've seen.
Maybe try posting more photos from each corner (and make sure the orientation of the photos are correct)

They responded and said they thought it was an 80s Bug or Margay kart but I still have yet to see a picture that matches this frame. This is frustrating

Did you get the front bumper? Bug bumpers are fairly unique looking and would be a big help in ID-ing.

Check out this ID-page at the Margay website: https://www.margay.com/what-kart-do-i-have.html

________________

Are your old spindles damaged/bent, or just the wrong ones ?

If one is still original and not bent, you could bring your kart to a competent racekart shop, and they could use their front-end alignment tools to hopefully find you a set of replacement spindles that would maintain the correct steering geometry. They could probably hook you up with suitable replacements even if both of yours are bent, or the incorrect spindles for your kart...

Here’s some more pictures of it. Figuring out frames seems to be impossible.

The front is missing the front bumper, here’s the holes the front would slide into and then there’s tabs by the spindle that would hold the top part of the front bumper.

As for the spindles it looks like someone broke one and then did the worlds worst weld job on it so I really want to replace them.

All the welds appear to be factory besides this seat adjuster someone has welded on the front of the seat.

Why do you to find out what cart it is? Are you planning on restoring to 100% stock?

When I first read your post I thought to myself, umm no but after thinking of a reply it sounds like I’m trying to.

The plan is to:

fix the spindle
-Find matching front wheels (the right front is bigger than the left front)
-Pick up a new 212cc motor
-Add a torque converter (might have to fab my own brackets to move the engine over away from the seat.
-Install a OMB stage 1 kit (probably good for 9-10hp until I have time and money to build a 20+ hp one, debating on the 420 swap but there isn’t as much aftermarket support and everything is 2x the cost. So 20+ hp 212 or 22-25hp 420.
-catch can setup
-gas take relocation with pump

After all the fab work is done I plan to strip it down completely, repaint everything and then reassemble it all.

Maybe I should start a build thread?

That's what was going through my head. Finding the model might be helpful, but that will only be if parts are available or if you can find a spec sheet with all the measurements. But you already have the kart so you can personally measure each thing, which will prevent accidentally buying a 'stock' part when what it's going on isn't a stock mounting.

Looks like finding spindles are the only thing that 'might' be helped by knowing what the model is. With all the research you've put into finding out what it is, you might have been able to find spindles that fit.

The rest is mostly separate from being model specific.

Oh lord.. those spindles are NOTHING to go by anyways..
those are INCORRECT
(as you can certainly tell by the amount of washers PO used to mount them)

Frankly..
please go ahead and measure any main tube of the chassis (metric and imperial)
I have a strong feeling we are talking metric kart here (you'd measure 30 or 32mm rail )

That 36mm bearinghousing on the spindle is pretty much generic metric karting stuff.
(my tony kart uses those) Spindle shaft is 17mm and ~92mm of unthreaded length
(plus ~16mm thread)
steering arm is 110mm measured from kingpin to bore.
yours appears to be exactly 120mm

'sid

PS check inside the left bearing hanger if you find a number stamped in.
Also check the rails close to the engine mount for a number..
in fact check every bit closely..
Sometimes you at least find the FIA homologation number which might help you trace back the mfg.

I’ll have to take the rear axle off tomorrow when I have time. Today I’ve got work and welding on some Work benches that I’m trying to finish.

The frame is 29mm thick

29 is odd.. for adult karts I'm aware of 28/30/32 mm chassis..

29mm I haven't heard of *shrugs*
hmmm... but 1 1/8" plus rust/paint/dirt could get close to that.

BTW I'm barely able to decipher the display of your caliper on the pics as soon as it's vertical, maybe my monitor, maybe bad lighting, maybe a combination..
So when you add such pics, please include the measurement taken ;)

IDK.. That front end is so distinct
(with the spindle brackets on the main rails instead of the crossbeam)
that it should be easy to tell for anyone who had one..
I think I saw that once but I cannot remember where or even when,
no context, nor anything I could search for to narrow down on the manufacturer.

Thanks for the reply. The caliper says enginetics. I took the axle off and these no stamping being the bearings. With that said any suggestions on cheap bearings? These are shot!

Here’s pictures of the rear caliper with all the measurements
