gear oil

No user manual came with this. I got it used. From what I've read the new ones might have had one but were useless

If you're talking about oil for the gears inside the engine itself, it's the motor oil...... There is no gear lube for the transmission in the engine. It uses the engines oil as a lube.
You can learn a lot just by googlin dumb questions. "where does the gear oil go in a 125cc atv engine"..... Try wording it different to get different results. That's how I find most stuff/information I'm looking for.....

In the manual it says replace gear box oil every 6 month I think. People say they replace it every after they get it because its not good what they use to ship it. And I thanj u for atleast looking at my question but your dumb question comment was uncalled for. If u don't want to answer just bypass.thanks.

You misunderstood what he meant....he wasn't saying you were asking a dumb question....he was saying you can get a lot of information from Google by phrasing your question as a dumb question.....he should have said simple.....there are no dumb questions.....

He meant no offense....just one of those things that happens when you deal with type written words.....

Tsk Tsk Jim.....now tell him you're sorry.....

Did it come with a users manual? That would be the first place to check.

And you didn't think that THIS was a smart a## answer?

No user manual came with this. I got it used. From what I've read the new ones might have had one but were useless
Oh, no user manual? Well, you should have got THAT first thing! I mean by God! It's your child's safety we are talking about here! download a FREE manual? It's free! .... BUT at least you are worried about the gear oil......

And I thanj u for atleast looking at my question but your dumb question comment was uncalled for. If u don't want to answer just bypass.thanks.
But my comment was a smart a## comment? Really?
In the manual it says...... Says what? How do YOU know? You just said you didn't have a manual.... So now you're lying, or just full of pookey..... That tid bit of info you spouted is just blah blah blah.... Something you heard......
My "stupid question " comment wasn't meant in any way shape or form, as derogatory or demeaning. Wasn't rude or useless either. In fact, it was right on the money..... By asking GOOGLE random/stupid questions, you are able to find a lot of information. And by wording the question differently, you can get better leads..... I don't get on here to just blah blah blah. I get on this forum to help others where I can, and to shoot the poop with the many friends I've made here. I go out of my way to research stuff for others. I even custom make parts for others, give away free stuff, and free $$$. For YOU, as a fresh faced newbie, to insinuate that I was just bumping my gums and being a hater, is just wrong..... You need to get your facts straight......
Speaking of facts..... Had you read the rules, been around, and did some reading throughout the forum, you'd see that the BEST questions are followed by a PICTURE..... So we know what we are dealing with.....
After downloading 4 manuals, and googlin for an hour...... Unless your kart is different than all the 125's I've read about, and looked at...... You have NO GEAR OIL to change or contend with. Your kart is powered by a typical 125cc horizontal 4stroke atv engine. It has an internal gear box, that's it.... NO external gear box that needs the oil maintained. Since it an internal gear box, the gears are bathed in engine oil constantly.
The taotao 125 ATV has a box that the gear oil needs to be changed in 6 month intervals, more frequently with rough service/heavy use.....
You have an engine designed for low/no maintenance. Change your oil every 2-3 weeks, depending on how much you guys rides. (I change oils in all my toys, every 3 weeks. My personal kart, every 2 weekends of use, because I'm extremely hard on it.) Other than the oil, just keep the highest grade gas you have available at the pump. And it's a real good idea to add "stabil " fuel treatment (or other) to your fuel to keep from gunking up the carb from idle use. Pull your spark plug out and check it, at every oil change too. Let's you keep an eye on the engines "health"......
Ok, I'm done...... :surrender:
Tisk Tisk, Doug? Really? :lolgoku: Well break out the  cuz its gonna be a bit..... I'd tell ya to take a nap, that's what I'm gonna do...... :roflol::cheers2:

Edited, edited a lot.....

Mr fireman I am truly sorry for thinking you was a smart ***. Really am. I looked and looked before asking any questions. I did find the manual after posting. I was at work all weekend on nights so working and looking was difficult. If I knowed how to post a pic on here I would have.I have never owned a go kart so I was going off hear say that I did read about and didn't want the go kart to dry up. Again I do appolgize I was getting frustrated with finding nothing. And my patience is limited so I had to start asking. But in my manual I down loaded it does say something sbout gear oil change every six months. Would u know why. Thanks and sorr

What's that famous line? "Being in love means never having to say you're sorry?"

BS!!!! Anyway....it takes a man to admit he's wrong....(or sorry)....and....I'm not sure about love.....but with marriage...it means you have to say it all the dadgum time! !!!

Anyway....You have gained some respect from me , sir....

:backtotopic:
Ahh, I think I see what's up..... Can you get a shot of the engine, from left side? ( left side, when you're sitting in it. ) If you have a cvr type gear box, and have one forward gear, one reverse gear, and neutral...... YES, change the gear oil every six months.....:lolgoku: All the looking I did, I'm convinced that it's just a standard automatic f-n-r 125cc, so I'm actually hoping you prove me wrong. (for my information "bank")
If you have a cvr type, it will be very evident by looking at the left side of the engine.
I'm gonna go do some more schnoopin 'round.....
EDIT
Oh yeah, no harm, no foul..... LoL

Yes I do think that looks like mine. I worked nights last two weeks and don't think about it in the morn. But I will get a pic and post to make sure. But mine does have only one foward gear reverse and neutral.I do know that much about it. If it does need changing do you know where it goes and drains from.

If that's like your engine, you only need to change your engine oil on a normal basis. The gears inside are bathed in engine oil.
It's the gy6 style that has an external gear box, necessitating gear oil.
Your ok, just keep the oil fresh..... And :auto: like the wind.....

So how will I know by looking at left side of motor if it is a cvr type or not. Like I said before I know nothing about that and I'm not claiming to be a mechanic. Thanks for your help man

If you see a shaft sticking out of the engines left side ,with a sprocket on it, there is no cvr trans. If there is a long, oblong looking, cover on the left side, and the shaft and sprocket come out the right side of the extended gear box, then you will be changing gear oil every 6 months.
Look at the pic below.... That's the gy6 style, and does have the gear box. There is a plug on top of the right side of the transmission, where the shaft comes out. The drain is on the opposite side, lower on the box. It might be under it, I can't remember....
