please help me ID and resurrect a vintage kart for my daughter

so this one is for my daughter and I. I got it for free, with the promise that its going to a good home.

my daughter is currently 5. will be six in January. she has asked to start going to the races with me, and wants to run the karts like she sees the other kids doing. she already drives the big wheels stuff pretty good, so she has some basic fundamentals. next is getting her going in the fields and parking lots, and working her way up to the autocross stuff.

anyway, here are pictures of what I scored.







first is to identify it. next is to get the spare horizontal shaft engine mounted up, as well as figure out hubs, brakes, and wheels. after that, figure out seating, and blow it apart for paint/resto.

then see how it does.

the front spindles are 3/4, the rear is a live axle with a 1 inch axle with keyway, that steps down to 3/4 for the threaded ends. what do I need to pick up?

please keep in mind that this is a beer budget redo. used and cheap are my best options here. not trying to make it truly competitive or anything, just go out and have some fun with my kid.

WOW! That's old & very cool...

I have no idea what it is, except to say that the pedal looks genuine; you may have trouble finding front wheels for it even if/when you ID it...

Well....obviously the pedal says Marguay.....so that might be what it is. .....and yeah....those bearings are tapered... (like car bearings)....meaning the other half of the race is in the hub... (or rim)...but should originals prove difficult to find....simply measure the spindle diameter and shop accordingly. .....

That sure does look a lot like the older enduro laydown style karts. The big fuel tanks are screaming laydown enduro type also.

this is NOT cheap.. the side tanks alone are worth a fortune
Those look to be from a Hornet Sidewinder, but I'm not 100% sure about that...
but very hornet'ish to say the least

The front wheels will cost you around 120 each for just the rims...
150 for the seat if you're lucky (see the small bar at the back.. that's the HEADREST!).
not to speak of the engine, which if you want to go with a matching one will have a four figure pricetag.

So that thing you got IS expensive (I see similar frames selling for 1.5k on ebay)
as it is..
and if restored it'll not be a kids kart.. it's a weapon.
and for sure it's too big for a six y.o.

if you want a nice kart for a 6yo to crash against the next fence without killing anyone
sell what you have (best if you know what it actually is // maybe ask at vintagekarts.com or lostenduros.com)
I can almost guarantee it's not a Margay
Anyways.. sell it and find a nice fun kart elsewhere.

restoring that with cheap parts is blasphemic; sorry.. but you promised a good home;
and that means do it right, or give someone else a chance to do so

I've seen this (one almost exact,or exact ) on ebay for 2k but it had front wheels/tires and an axle and rear tires. But that's it. Nothing else.... NOTHING
