By the time, you spend the money, to upgrade a 6.5(all the billet goodie's) to produce 16 hp(the same as motor you want)...personly, i would go,bigger, motor, with tav 40 for off roading........why not do both!!!! Then see if the ole man can beat the kid.

shew thats a lota money....... 2 motors at $300 each and 2 clutch setups at $300 each, not sure I can wrap my head around $1200 but I just might if I knew they were done right and not too difficult

I know technically your right, I could find a good 4wheeler motor cheap but I am looking for easy on this project, don't have countless hours to tinker

Ahh. I see. That's why my projects take bloody forever, too.
I thought you were doubting the concept- But instead it's just not feasible for you.

I did some looking into the stock gearing and it looks like it is 10/60, im starting to wonder if it needs to be geared for more top end, the cart feels strong on take offs but week at 3/4 and full speed

Yeah- I think you're running outta HP- 6:1 on a CVT with 18" tires should still have some grunt, but come up short in the top end. I see your problem. Well, if the bike parts are off the table, I do believe you're going to have to swallow the cost of a large engine and CVT.

I think you're correct, but I wonder if I could get the motor to grunt longer due to gearing would it make it feel faster?

You might be able to get away with a bit, but ultimately, speed and torque are a trade-off.

I played with my CVT, delaying shift time, etc, and ended up being happier regearing. But what the heck- try it, you might get decent results...

Any idea what your current top speed is?

I would guess at 30mph, and it does feel plenty torqy, we have only had a few days warm enough to test much, but next time I get it out I will do a GPS speed test

Do that. Once you have a confirmed speed, we can run your numbers thru a speed calculator, and find out if you're hitting max RPM, and play with things from there. The reason I had to regear is that I figured out I was NOT hitting max RPM at WOT in a straight run. Gearing down from 4:1 to 4.8:1 made the difference, and believe it or not resulted in a HIGHER top speed because the engine wasn't having to work as hard.
