I was doing a project where i was converting an old electric ezgo golf cart into a gas go kart, but i need to make some changes...

I have found that some of the parts are missing and it may weigh too much, so i have decided to get a go kart frame and build from there.

Here's the problem... I think i would enjoy buying plan more instead of a kit and tere are more plans out there that fit my style and needs than kits, and also i can make some adjustments to the looks and everything just buy ordering different pats (since you order each part seperatly, unlike a kit). But my dad insists that i should get a kit just so i can have everything there, and that it would robobly cost less.

I have found very many good plans but i cannot find many kits. The main problem is the cost. Would a kit cost me more than buying each part seperatly with a plan?

I would say price would be similar. If you get plans it will take longer, but you will probably be more satisfied in the end, and you will feel more of an achievement. You will learn more too.

Budget?
Terrain and or purpose?
And i say use golf car!

Quad or trike rear end and a 200-350 bike engine will rip. I transformed (though havent documented here) a chinese, 5hp, single wheel drive, no suspension kart into a full suspension kart woth honda 200cc engine.

cost me some time, $50 in steel and tabs, a honda 200x trike($100). $30 plastic bucket seat from jegs.com

I think the kit wont be as satisfying or live up to your expectations. use the plans but get materials based off of the kit If your dad is worried about it.
