pit in bore a problem?

i took the head off of my gx200 clone to swap in a gx160 head. I looked at the bore, and it looks perfect except for a pit near the bottom of the bore. could it affect anything?

no oil might seep up a little more but should not do anything.... id also check the rest of your engine for defects if i were you specifcaly bearings,rods and crank.

Casting defect indeed. Popped up a couple years ago. If it bothers you, get some Theromsteel and match it up (rated at 2400F, and on the bottom of the stroke, it isn't going to get incredibly hot...)

So you are saying a couple of years ago there was that pit problem in the casting of clone engines? That would make sense because the engine was bought a couple of years ago just hasn't been used until now.

Also, i don't plan on doing anything about the pit as it is near the bottom of the piston stroke, and as a result should not effect compression.

The liner is cast iron, all liners are last I checked. I don't know if they still do or not but briggs supposedly casts their liners directly into the block.
