yup you dont need a electic start they were just optional for snowblowers and stuff. I see your engine even has a block off plate where the starter goes so it didnt come with one from the factory. Post a wtb ad for the pull start you shouldnt pay over 25$ for one

well anyways guys this is more of a long term project and i figured since pretty much everything was stripped off the block i decided to just completely rebuild the thing. its all down to the block, and from here im gonna clean and wash each part, re oil and slap it back together, but i need a torque wrench first before i reassemble.

wow, ive never seen a piston that big before, i think its near 400cc
(the biggest motor ive seen the piston is a 43cc)

well i have a dremel so i can polish the intake and exhaust, clean out most of the deck and piston......

doesnt look that bad at all. i got pics but im too lazy to upload at the moment, ive been so busy with school.

Dont pollish the intake, only the exhaust.

yea right, i meant polish because there are sometimes grooves dug in it. looks fine, though.

status of the engine: block totally torn down.

gonna powerwash it then see what i can do about that headbolt.

can i just buy a starter cup????

I wouldn't use that corded drill, with the switch like that it won't have variable speeds, and turn way too fast for what you need to drill.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is walk away. Let it sit for a few days(or weeks) and come back slightly less pissed.

or like months in this case. i am working on 2 projects right now and i dont even have anything to put the briggs in. im gonna hopefully expand my tools enough to get a cheap drill press or even a used one. sucks my workplace is in the basement, i dont have a garage. in order to weld i will need to make ducts and ventilation and strip the floor to cement. i hope mom approves, hahaha

You do know how to tap a hole, right?

for cleaning thread wind it in a few turns with cutting fluid - car oil/2 stroke oil/Rtd/hydraulic oil/ canola oil if ya have to! the tap needs lubrication,and you need to tak it out blow the swarf out of it and wind it in a few threads more!

When tapping a new thread drill a hole the size down then run your tap in a few turns following same principles above,

the tap is made out of high carbon steel, it doesnt flex it snaps, if you feel resistance don't just wind it on thru she'll be right!, give a a small bit of elbow back it off clean the tap more fluid try it again..

E z-out/remover kit yeah same principle applys for them as well don't go hard on them they just snap!

for tapping and to avoyyed snapping i was always told to go one turn in half turn out that way it snaps the burrs u are creating by cutting the thead and the tap will last longer.

oh and as cam said cutting fluid is a nessesity, stuff like trefolex works great epesialy when u are trying to put a rusty nut on a rusty nut.
it is very useful on a farm machenery mechanics
