Pretty much useless. I've taken the governor off and held it at WOT for 30 seconds. The carburetor pretty much doesn't do anything after around 4500RPM. Which is good. Leave the stock carb on there.

Venturi in carb should not be larger than intake port. If it is, chances are it will run lean. Most stock venturi are made smaller than intake port on purpose as to limit power/rpm which ultimately extends engine life expectancy.
Going to a slightly larger carb will boost all around performance somewhat. Just make sure that venturi is not larger than intake port.

A 3HP carburetor would boost performance like you've never seen, but I would NOT recommend it. Stick with the stock carburetor and a removed governor.

<5000RPM for sure. In that 30 seconds, if it went over 5000, it would have blew the dipper off and broke the rod.

I wouldn't go over 6000RPM.

Of course, this was a 1959 Briggs & Stratton 2HP. It had the OLD style points + condensers, and a WEIRD flywheel.

Mr. Sayre: Don't know if you posted engine numbers or not. I may have missed it if you did. Could you post them? Should be near where coil wire exits blower housing or on flat portion of blower to right of carb. Thanx

Exhaust spring is "heavier" than the intake spring.

The Briggs 2HP (And 3HP) did not use a gear governor. They used a air controlled one. The flywheel would blow air onto that piece, regulating the speed. Remove the flywheel, and you'll find that little flappy piece of metal, connected on by the same screw using to hold the coil on.

No engine that was properly cared for will look old inside. On the contrary, it'll looks amazing.

Say sayre, do you happen to know if regular mail service (USPS, snail mail, stamps...?) would ship a single ring under a stamp?

Thanks... I'd gladly ship it by regular mail service, but when I shipped my friend 2 new set screws for his Max Torque clutch, when he recieved he, he found 2 holes in it and the screws gone :(

So I'm not sure if one of the machines chopped it up or such... but I'd try if you like.

Yeah, I was thinking of sending you the single ring and the little sheet (so you don't put it upside down).

Eyebrows - No real use. The 2/3HP's eyebrows are tiny. You'll notice nothing to barely any increase.

You sure that's the model? Or the code? The model number should be something like 60102...?

The rings (There were 8, I used 2 packs and the rest are just sitting there) were the ones I were talking about. This guy were selling 10 packs for around $20. I nabbed a standard bore (he had .010+ and .020+) ect.

You can file oversize rings to fit standard bore, it is actually better to do so since you'll get a tighter fit.

That's a nice pipe! I got a picture of the governor on the 1959 Briggs 2HP, I'll post it up in a second!

Oh, and mom found a nice padded yellow envelope! :) If I do ship it, the total will be definitely under $15 (shipped), and instead, you get ALL 3 rings!

(Notice the VERY old style coil, and the OLD flywheel? Not like today's cast iron-rusty-brown flywheels)

(That little flappy part is the governor. As you can see, I've disconnected it)

And yes, this really IS 49 years old. Next year it becomes a antique :D
