Picked up the "Arachnid" plans - Not for me?

Hey everyone

I got the plans for the spidercarts.com "Arachnid" and like a lot of others on here, I'm not entirely impressed. I knew people had a lot of problems with them, but I really can't find too many other plans for a go kart that has front and rear suspension. I like the "Granddaddy" cart they have plans for, but judging from the plans of the "Arachnid" they may not entirely be what I need.
What do you guys think? Should I stick it out and heavily modify the plans, or does anybody know of some other plans for a cart with front/rear suspension.

First thing that comes to mind is an edge sidewinder
But that's quite a bit more extreme than the spider karts
Otherwise it may be a home built job

What do you not like about the spider kart plans
I believe they took slot of bugs out of the new plans
But that may be a rumour

The Granddaddy is, basically, a 2 seater arachnid with a roll cage...

There are lots of plans out there, it all depends on what you want it to do & how much you want to spend on the finished product; give us a brief run-down of what you want & what you don't want...

Well I'm looking for something with front/rear suspension mainly, and a roll cage. I'd like to be able to do some awesome off roading. Price will vary for any design because I've got tons of parts from previous projects, but if it's designated for around $2000, I can probably find about $500 worth of spare parts to use.

I find that the spidercarts plans aren't set up very well for someone that wants to really get into it. It's less straight forward than a lot of people would like I think. But I think I might just stick with the arachnid plans and rewrite them to a way I can utilize them better.

Well, I get that you want suspension, I was hoping you'd give a bit more detail regarding the rear but, I'm guessing you're leaning towards IRS?

In the grand scheme of things, although the have some really good designs, Spiderkarts are basically toys; if you want a serious offroad machine, you need to have a look at Edge Products

Sorry about the lack of detail. I don't think IRS is necessary. I want suspension, but I don't plan to be riding on the dunes/ramps anytime soon. I really like the Edge products, I've seen the before, and they're way cool. I think those may be a step out of my league. So maybe a "toy" is what I should be leaning towards. I think I might stick with the arachnid, and try to simplify it a bit. I've already looked at the plans and concluded there's at least $500 worth of parts I can cross off the list. Will turn out to be a pretty small investment in the end, compared to buying a cart of similar quality.
