Well, picked up a new Champion 4450watt generator from Cabela's today. Has a 224cc clone motor on it. My normal beak-in for these clones is add oil, pull spark plug add a small amount of oil in the spark plug hole and install plug, slowly pull the pull start to get oil in the cylinder, run for about 30 mins at an idle, drain oil, add new oil and run for about 30 mins, drain oil and put in a good full synthetic for final use.

Anything you guys do different that would help prolong the use of this thing? Oil conditioner, longer or shorter break-in run times, etc...

Thanks!

Definitely use the oil it comes with it for break in. Since its a generator about all you can do is start it up and run it at no load, at 3,600rpm.
Definitely use ethanol free pump gas.
Usually I'll let the first oil run for a few hours before I change it.
Also load test it, see if it's running rich. Put a smaller jet in if it's running rich, that will help the oil and your fuel supply last longer. Tractor supply sells jet kits for 224cc champion generator, the champion generators use Honda clone carbs so all your honda clone carbs can use those jets.
Buying one of each pack of Tractor supply generator jet kits and having several old/broken Honda carbs is how I stated learning how to tune Honda clone carbs several years ago.

After the 2nd oil change, 1 hour for first and 1 hour for second I'll run for an hour on about 40% load for hour and change it one more time. I put a about 3 drops of Lucas oil stabilizer in the spark plug hole to wet the cylinder for initial start. I'm not to worried about the carb or jets for now, but I will pick up the jet kits from TS to have on hand. I normally run a #36 jet in my clone carbs around these parts and it works great.

My fool proof tuning method is run the engine on E10, run smaller and smaller jets until the engine sputters under full load then switch back to ethanol free.
