I bought an intake and I plan on buying an exhaust for my engine as well.

What else can I do to get better performance out of it I know of a site with all diffrent carbs cams and what not but how much power would these things really add what should I buy? what would parts would I notice the most increase out of?

A low end cam (as in RPM range, not price range) will add more torque to the lower RPM range (2000 - 4000rpm), increasing acceleration.

You can go for a bigger carb but, the engine will only use as nuch fuel as it needs; force feeding it will only make it run rich which isn't a good thing. At most, rejetting the existing carb will do the trick but only if it needs it.

Other simple mods to think about include
- removing the governor
- advance timing key
... the list goes on, depending on how much you want to spend...

I literally just finished porting a GX340 head, there are a few areas that you could fix with minimum effort that would help it out. The short side radius on the exhaust side is one of the worst i've ever seen (been porting for a long time). Intake side needs a little work too.

If you decide to go that route, might as well shave the head too. Very easy way to get a little more punch.

Stock carb is fine, just re-jet it once you're all done modding the engine.

How much power gain should i expect from porting this engine and what should I port them to?
any specifications?
how much money would it cost a local machine shop to do this job?
or could I do it myself?
If so what tools do I need?
