Today I was asked if I wanted a blown up junk quad before it is scrapped. I went and loaded it up and it’s a 250cc two stroke with a f/n/r gearbox!

My plans were to cut the front and back of the ATV off and box the engine/transmission in set it down on the back of a gokart and weld it home.

All those plans shattered when I got there and seen the CVT missing!

After cleaning it up It runs flawlessly with a generic 28mm carburetor. It will Look even better once I get some bolts and the plastics all lined up.

I thought this was going to be a build thread/refurbish.
I was hoping it was going to be but the CVT was to expensive. Also none for sale local so it would run but just sit because it doesn’t move.

In a perfect world this would have had the CVT drive parts and would have been a running riding quad. Just cut the frame make a square box and weld the whole thing to the back of a gokart.

The search for the perfect quad to cut up continues.IMG_7076.jpegIMG_7079.jpeg

It seems as if EVERYONE around here has went the throw away society route. Or do not know how to fix things.

Example: instead of cleaning up the very simple two stroke and making a good quad strip it instead and leave it behind a shed. Just take it apart for something to do then abandoned it.

I will end up with the right free throw away for a crazy side project one day.

100%. I've made so much use out of some ones "garbage", or money it isn't even funny. It is more that no one knows how to fix things, or are just to damn lazy to do it or look it up. We are a dying breed. Cheers to some easy cash. :cheers2:

They pay lots of money for a new machine and won’t pay a guy like us hourly for a couple hours of work to fix that expensive machine.

They instead just go buy a new expensive machine o_O

I’ll slug a beer down to easy money :cheers2:

Saturday is for the boys!

My sis buys robo vacs and wears them out. When they break she gives them to me. I spend the 12 dollars for parts and then let them run around my house. Pretty good investment.
She'll hit me up for a trade every once in a while, a broken one for a working one.
I drop the small cost of repair and keep the cycle going.
I told her to at least keep buying the same brand so parts swap.
I have 3 at the moment.

Its just in our blood to fix things I guess.

Not wanting to derail, but I thought I should join the 21st century and look into one. Now you’re saying parts are available & you can infinitely rebuild one? Wild. Tell us more about the robo-vac, your favorite one and all in another thread maybe …

Are your actually "vacuum cleaners" of simple rotary brooms with a dust pan? Wifey bought a couple and they immediately found the low spot in the floor and stayed there. Not happy costomers.
