Hey guys! Finally have started tinkering with my kart again, college is insane!

I'm having issues with pedal return. My setup is here http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=28235&page=2
and I could really use some input. I've looked for bushings to try and let the pedals swivel more easily, but to no avail. Am I missing something obvious? Should I just fab new pedals? I have no idea. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all!

well from what I can see your cables and the pedal return springs run at an angle what looks to be bigger than 45°...
ideally they run perfectly straight, that angle is NOT exactly an advantage.
So either move the pedals outward, or extend the pedal base (weld on levers or better a rotating shaft at the pivot) or which I think is the best solution.. move the cables inwards and fab a holder for them and the spring inline with the pedals so that everything runs as straight as possible.

And I must agree with Doug about the image size.. one huge image isn't an issue with me, two or three neither...
I'm not visiting this page with a smartphone as Doug does.. still it took a crap load of time to push the dozens of humonguous images through the lines onto my german computer.
You really should resize them!

Anyways.. the leverage angle on the pedal is rather short (attachment points of cable and spring on the pedal in regards to it's pivot point) and that angle is either badly photographed or just crappy!
I do not have the patience tbh to wait for all images to load myself.. so I just waited for the first that shows your pedal setup.

increasing the lever isn't such a good idea (decreased control on all actions) and awkward pedal movement..
so fixing the cable/spring situation is all that you could do to fix your issue IMHO.

You should not need bushings. I just loosen the bolt and double nut it.
But yes like Sid said the Angle of your return spring will cause the loosness to bind
instead of returning.
I did not see the pic with cables or rodes just the pedals and return springs.
