Look at other peoples builds and/or look at the go kart plans on the front page. Stop making new threads. Spend a bit of time researching. Sorry for being mean but just use ur brain man. Theres plenty of build threads available where u can get ideas for pedals. At the end of the day, as long as u no how a pedal works u dont need instructions on how to make one, im sure u can make one up urself with what u got laying around.

I don't have any pics of the pedals on the sidewinder, but when it's finished I'll post them.

Hey, cool thread Idea... ;)
I was thinking it would be more interesting to include the pedal linkages/rear connections.

Here's an old funky project I've got out back:

Not a pedal but shifter / hand clutch:

Shift linkage at motor:

I'm kinda looking forward to seeing all the diferent setups every one's made or rigged up.

If we eliminated every new thread here that a serious google or DIY forum search would answer, this thriving forum would quickly die. I recommended he start this thread cause I couldnt find any that showed a bunch of closeup pedal setups. I thought seeing serveral diferent designs would help him deside how to best build his. I also think this thread could end up helping serveral other newbies on down the road.

Its cool if you dont wanna post yours, but he's just trying to do a good job...

Here is a pedal set up I installed in one of my buggies. All made from 1/8x1" metal strips and 3/4x3/4 square.

Just chill out man, yea maybe he could have done some searching and found pictures, but i like the idea of sharing our setups. I for one really like Theo's peddles and may have to make something like it for my kart, and guess what, if it wasnt for this thread i would have never gotten the idea (well without thinking for a bit at least). Besides, what may be obvious to you, might not be to others. Keep that in mind before you go telling people to stop asking questions that YOU think are stupid.

tgras, i'll try and get a picture of my setup sometime soon, i didnt make it myself but i like the design.

Well i was just saying that because i mean if you get told by everyone how to do things all the time, u dont really learn ur own way and start to rely on others. Im the only one in my family that is into metal work type stuff so i teach myself which i think is better as u become more independent. I think u learn more if u have to figure it out urself and engineer a pedal design with what u got laying around.

Brendon, I agree with you to some extent. The ability to figure things out for yourself and make what you need out of what you have laying around is a major asset.

OTOH, why re-invent the wheel if someone has already done the groundwork? We can all benefit from other folk's ideas.

I'm working on an idea for kart pedals made out of re-worked bicycle pedals and crank arms. If it works out like the mental image I have of it, I'll post some pics.

I can defiantly see that. Should work well. Wont look to great but the functionality of it will be good.

Actually, I'm hoping it'll look pretty cool. All the parts are polished aluminum. I took the pedals off the crank arms and removed the spindle and bearings. After cutting the skeleton pedal frame down a little, I'll weld it to the crank arms at a slight angle and rebore the square sockets in the other end of the crank arm to fit over a pivot.

If it was just needing pedals, it'd be a lot easier to just make 'em out of flat stock.
