PAZ200 Mini Jeep

Chinese PAZ200 mini Jeep project.
I bought this from china, showed up in a crate.
I love the thing but they put a wee lol 175cc gy6 in it. (It’s sold claiming to have 200cc, but no, it’s very much 175cc.)
The result is a fun lil unit, at WOT maybe 28mph at 7k rpm’s. (Loud and rattly)

so I’ve been contemplating this for some time, swapping in a bigger, manual transmission motor with an auto clutch. The goal here is enough power to spin the tires in snow, and a top speed of hopefully 35-40 so it’s not screaming like a banshee driving around town.
I bought a 1987 Honda trx350 that has everything I need, but it’s a 4wd shaft drive. So now my goal is to fix and sell, and buy a rebuild 4x2 2001 Honda trx300 instead. (I feel 4wd conversion might be over my head. I just want a torque-y rwd.)

The current engine is in the rear, and there is no space for a bigger one. So the new design will have to be front engine.
So the first problem, steering. The engine bay will fit the motor after i cut the gas tank brackets out, but the steering shaft and rack and pinion is in the way. Anyone have any ideas for a left-hand steering input that would work??

at the top right of the gas tank, you can see the steering shaft come through the firewall.

if I can figure something clever to get that out of the way, I may be able to install the Atv engine and transmission, with a chain to a jack shaft, to the back, then a chain back up to a jack shaft, to a cv joint to the rear pumpkin I will also be stealing from a Honda Atv. Just transferring power from one end to the other.

I’ve never built anything like this, but many have. Check out Cars and Cameras new racing mower build, may help with some ideas for steering. Good luck!

You will need to do some major frame modifications. Can you fabricate and weld? Let’s see some engine pictures. Does it have a gy6 type engine or a ct70 style engine? Need more pictures.

Yes I can fabricate and weld, but I’m waiting on getting a decent plan in mind, the first hurdle being the steering. I also want to get a better welder for at home before tackling because I got a lot of welding projects that are starting to pile up that my little flux core won’t do in a timely manner.

The gy6 style of engine is based off a Yamaha design. I’m more of a Honda kind of guy. But I’m sure there are big bore engine kits and other hop up parts available for that style of engine. Might want to check into that.

I did, but the hope-ups are pretty mild and my main goal here is gears, with an auto clutch.
something I can tow with, push snow with, drive around town Ect.
something with all the capabilities of a Honda quad, but in this jeep body. I’m going to save or sell the gy6 for a gocart, but something about having this jeep with 3-5 gears with reverse and an auto clutch, screams this is what she was meant to be in the first place.
mom still measuring and researching at this point because once I get to cutting, which is hopefully before this fall, there is no going back.

I don’t want to spend a fortune but I do want this to be reliable enough where my wife will drive it. (Hence, auto clutch.) and frankly I guess I will spend what I have to because I want it to be nicceee.
It’s a favorite at the local car shows because it’s unique.

This was not the "jeep" I expected. This is something new. Neat-o.

It's also not a flat fender but modeled on a later CJ5 or military M38A1. I like it even more.

Rabbit 929 - - Hello there. I plan to do the same thing. Or something similar. You have options, but is all fabrication.

Opt-A like you said, get that honda engine + install it and make a drive shaft to the rear.

OptB - which I am doing, where I will put either a 670cc or 750cc ( vtwin) engine in the front, and relocate the fuel tank, and then use a suzuki samurai transmission (you have 5 speed + r) Run a drive shaft to the rear + use a solid shaft configuration.

Would you be able to take a few measurements of several distances around the engine bay? For reference. Thank in add Vance (TIA)
