:iagree:

It's only $35 bucks and the people who design the plans need to get paid. I would want to get paid if I took the time to design a well built kart.

Pay the man!

Well that sucks I used that "I Agree" with arrow pointing up icon and I get sent to a new page (3). OK I agree with the last person on page 2. LOL

LOL. Easy fix. "Edit" your post, then quote whatever you want to quote...

You got a job? Would you like to work a day unpaid?

:iagree:

While I like to save a buck as much as the next person, stealing copyrighted materials (i.e. plans) is just plain wrong. And if you're just thinking "It's only $40.00, what's the big deal?"; the price for plans are based on 1] how many hours it took to draw up said plans, 2]What it took to build, revise, test/ prove out said plans, 3] How many copies they think they can sell.

Every step along the way costs money, and there's no guarantee for success. So, if you were in their position, WHY should they willingly allow plans to just be copied for free?

This is a legitimate question; how would you feel if someone was asking for the fruits of your labor for free? Not because they couldn't afford it; because they were too cheap (and felt your labors weren't worth the asking price).

I can't tell you what a certain set of plans are worth; I refuse to even try. All i do know, is that openly asking for copies of them is technically illegal.

Here's the basic question; if you were the designer, how would you feel about people trying to bypass your copyright?

Alright, I didn't know if I would be able to do that anyway. I am new to the forum and just wanted to see if I could get a couple ideas from it. I agree with all of you, anyway, I just didn't want to pay $40 for the whole thing. All I really need is the materials page. Could anyone help me by telling me how many feet of square tubing they used, and how much it cost them just for raw metal? Also I am going to start an Arachnid build soon and I cant seem to figure out how to start a thread. If anyone could help me with any of those things that would be great. I am actually drawing up my own plans from a bunch of different pictures I found on the forums here. Thanks again.

I have heard estimates of around 1000-1500 for the whole thing as they have listed in the plans.

Have you searched their website? I am sure they have some info on there. Also, use the search functin at the top of our forum. There have been lots of arachnid builds from users lately.

Is that for purely the cost of just metal? I have been doing some research online and found that I can get 80ft of 1x1" square tubing for under 400$ And can anyone help with the thread issue?

Your bill of materials is going to depend entirely on your design. Design it, and add it up. As for costs, that entirely depends on your region- and the merchants available to you.

To start a new thread, go into the section you want to be in, and click "New Thread".
