Oscar, I just checked on the por-15 website and they do make the product.
It sounds ideal- and expensive!
I wonder if a cheaper alternative would work as well?
Novaracer: Sounds good but bedliner is very expensive! I have a place about 5 miles away from my house that does the Line-x bedliner like Jrdragstertyler has on his kart.
I considered powdercoat, but once again expensive! Thats why I wanted to find a cheap epoxy or something.
Thanks for the help.
Edit: I wonder what this stuff is like?
Maybe they do a non spray version

Go for an industrial enamel or chassis black. Both cheap as and you'l never destroy them on a kart.

POR15 is overkill on a kart, in this application chassis black would be just as strong anyway.

I'd just go for enamel if it was me, cheap, strong and available in any colour. Chassis black (as the name implies) only comes in black.

Ok thanks. When you say chassis black are you talking about the por15 brand stuff? Cos its more money than a starter kit.
And what sort of industrial enamel are you talking about? Pics/ links?

Not talking about the POR15 stuff, just chassis black in general. Any auto shop should have little cans of it for pretty cheap.

By industrial enamel I pretty much mean quick dry enamel, go to a paint shop and ask about it for your go kart. If you're lucky they might have a can they messed up the colours on that you can you have for really cheap, it's probably just as cheap on the internet though.

As bighead says, you can brush it on but it it doesn't look that great, much better to spray it.

Ok thanks. I have found chassis black on ebay for just over £10. Do you mean one part or two part enamels? Because the only two part ones I can find are for floors and are in massive cans.
Thanks

I mean one part enamels, just like a normal tin of paint. Look up "quick dry enamel" or "fast dry enamel", you might have some luck looking up "metal enamel" or "rust proofing paint" too.

Yep.

Do you have the equipment to spray it on? Or will you brush it?

I have a spray gun for a compressor. It wastes so much though!
I also have some teamac Zinc phosphate primer which is usable with the enamel. I may get this paint then because my dad has a mole valley account so i can probably get him to pay :).

Haha cool. Spraying does waste a lot, it does come out pretty **** nice though. :)

You'l probably need some thinners too mate.

The vast majority of liquid-in-can paints are not thin enough to spray. You will have to get some suitable thinner if you wish to spray it. The type of thinner will depend on the paint. For the love of Dog, don't use hardware store "Paint Thinner", it's crap. Very low quality, compromises the integrity of the paint, retards dry time, and if you use it for pre-paint cleaning, leaves an oily residue. For standard Alkyd (oil-based) enamels, I recommend Acetone. As usual, use the proper safety procedures and equipment, in conjunction with sufficient ventilation.

And yes, the results are much better, with very few exceptions. I have painted car body parts with Tremclad and Rustoleum-type "rust" paints thru a spray gun.

Welp because I'm a cheap bastard I settled for "Miracle Paint"... it's supposedly similar to POR15 lol. Not as much prepwork anywho.

"Miracle Paint is a unique moisture cured non-porous paint that bonds to rusted and corroded metals like no other coating. I have personally used this ..."

Anyone? I wanted to paint the kart purple and white. I am hopefully going to cover the seat in white leatherette to match the theme and paint the shocks and wheels white.
I wanted to spray the paint.
