Me and my dad picked up two carts last weekend for 100$ each. I think we got pretty good deals, mine needs a belt, and his needs a bit more.

Mine: Carter (6hp)

Dad's: Yerf-Dog (6hp - Thanks Blazkowiez)

This came out of the engine holding the clutch on (engine needs to be retapped now because it looks the same inside)

Needs new front wheel assembly (and wheel)

Mine will be getting taken apart, sanded and repainted flat black. Dad's will be fixed before possible paint with new black foam all around on both.

Tell me what you think!

That model of Yerf-Dog came with a 6.0hp stock. If the engine has not been changed then thats what he has. Very cool, hope you guys have fun with em.

Thanks, do you happen to know the exact model of it? we are trying to find an explosion chart to get part numbers and order new parts (we want to make sure to get the right ones the first time)

We tapped the engine, and got a new bolt but haven't put it back in yet to see if it will fit right, hopefully it does! We are new to carts so this is a pretty fun experience.

Update: tapped out the engine, picked up a new bolt and put the clutch back on - that works well now (clutch may need to be cleaned as it doesn't disengage completely when the engine is stopped). Fixed the spacer between the engine and the clutch, and fixed the problem with the throttle falling off the connection with the carb so the carb doesn't stay wide open all the time.

Now that left is work on the engine to make it purr, new belt, new front wheel and a new brake band (old one is missing cause it snapped off (are those universal?))

Also still looking to see what model cart it is.

Thanks!

When looking for parts know that Flexible Flyer has been out of business for 6 years now. I think your kart is a model 3201 but that wont help you as there are no manuals online for it. BMI purchased the assets of Yerf-Dog and has some parts but there are many different places you can purchase the parts for these karts as they used very generic parts such as the engine, belts, clutches, brake bands, bolts, tie rods, ends, shocks, etc. If you do smash something and don't want to repair the A-Arm they do still have a few at BMI at a decent price, thats the one item I would buy from them seeing as you cant get it anywhere else. Btw, both of your A-Arms look bent to me.

Yeah they do look a little bent don't they?

I want to find out exactly what belt i need, they have one at a the tractor supply company down the road, but I don't know if it will fit, should I try it and take it back if it doesn't? The belt that was on there was so tight I took the clutch off and it was still too tight to get off, I had to tug and pry it off.

Got the new belt for the Carter yesterday and now I'm waiting for the rain to stop so I can go out, put it on and ride it around.

Are the brake bands universal? I'm sure I can find a front wheel assembly.

The two brake bands are different, the one on the Yerf-Dog will be a 4" and the one on the Carter will be 4 3/4".

The correct belt number for your Yerf-Dog is comet #203591 or Rotary #10052. Make sure you keep both of those clutches super clean... every 5 hours of use you need to be cleaning your drive clutches, and dont even switch them up so take one off at a time, dont try and streamline.

Yeah the Carter is symmertrical and the Yerf-Dog is Assymetrical so it wouldn't work if we switched them. Just not sure if the motor, jackshaft placement has been changed ever so should I measure the center to center and let you know?

Edit: Also, on the Yerf-Dog, the inside side of the clutch is warped/bent a little. Should it be perfectly flat or should it still be angled a little bit? Whichever way it should be, I could probably bend it back into shape as best i can.

On the Yerf-Dog this is not physically possible unless someone has drilled new holes. The inner plate on the Yerf-Dog should be angled at 3 degrees, thats almost not visable unless your eyes are way better than mine. If the plate is bent from someone forcing it off at one time then you can possibly fix it, just check for wobble.

If you need the measurements from center to center on the carter view the picture here:

I'm sure this forum has this information somewhere, but this is something I photoshopped together about 3 years ago and have been keeping in my photobucket. Eat that foos! Its the entire belt casing enlarged.

Awesome, I found the right one for the Carter because it was stamped right on the old belt, and the website confirmed.

Thanks so much.

Looks like that Yerf-Dog took a lot of right hand turns

And you say this because they wore out the left tire, replaced it with a tire from Wal-Mart and then failed to replaced the right one which now looks worn because they didnt change both out?

It looks like they just threw any old wheel from somewhere else on there, wore out the spacer and there are like 20 washers on it. It also rubs up against the end of the tie rod now and the tire is completely dry rotted, filled with water, and flat with little seal on the rim.

From factory they used one long spacer which was about 5/8" pipe by 5/8" long, then 4 flat washers. When people lose those they make due. I'd bet they they just didnt know how to change the tire well, plus those Wal-Mart tires are terrible, we got an order in of those junky Chinese Carlisle ripoffs and sold them half price until they were gone.

Yeah I think we might try to find two new front tires and two new spacers (so they are the same) seeing as how the other one is a bit bald.
