Looks like a workable start, but I also think you're not getting enough heat into that spindle assembly. Either turn up the juice and linger longer, or maybe bring them to someone with a more powerful machine. It'd suck to have your frontend let go on you at speed.

I been working on the rear of our project. got a moter mount allmost done just need to be burned in.

We made some progress today, I worked the brakes and Evan did the cutting and griding on the steering hoop and mount. This is not a swingarm, It is the top of the quad frame. It looks like swingarm, but it is not.

We are still building, but we hit a little snag as we ran out of welding wire. So we need to scratch up some cash. The front is all most done just need to work out a steering wheel. A couple close ups of the brake mount and the steering.

We set the go kart aside for a couple weeks. Evan seen my slot car track, he told me he could set up computor timeing and race control for it so we retaped the the track, and been raceing the clock, and each other.
I did build the steering wheel, and got the brakes sorted out. We will get back to the go kart this week.

well we have resumed on the cart and it is nearly finished. but it did go down the road and back
still working on the brakes just need put a new cable end on. pic to follow later to day

OK, as Evan said it's allmost a wrap, just working out some bugs. Here are some pictures. the yellowish ones were taken at the peak of the eqlicps (spelling) 5/20/12. the seat pan is made from the hood of the old riding mower, steering and brakes from a quad. frame is a hand truck, fence pipe, and square tube from old shelves. If you look you can see I welded a second flange to the rear hubs, So I can turn them around and use a larger set of wheels. All the hardware was on hand, We did not buy anything to build this project.

I could not give you an accurate speed, but it is fast enough to get the ol' heart rate up. We are still working some bugs out, need to get a better cable end on the brake cable, front end alinged, we have a slow leak in a tire, and I'd like to paint it.
But are you ever truly done with a build? We have a lot we could still do, but we have to stop some where and submit are work. This build was a lot of fun. Evan and I learned a lot, this build off was a good idea, thanks for the nice words.

You guys have done a fantastic job. I really enjoyed this build. I also like that you use an old hand truck as your frame base. Very ingenious
