I enjoy reading the stories and history behind cars, motorsports of all kinds.
the intent was not to mislead, but rather to educate, and give Mr. gearhead a tongue lashing for failing to identify his favorite brand’s products.
Perhaps my expextations were too high. l tend to forget he is still a youngster.
The wiki page covers a lot, so l won’t repeat it all.
I must warn you if you proceed with an investigation, we will bring the full force of the Mt. Top legal team down on you. We employ the most crook..errr ahhh l mean, brilliant retired politicians to staff our legal department.

despite this distraction, and continuing with our educational programming, here you can see another example of a Cortina.

l have no particular love for Cortinas. I do enjoy the obscure, rare, old, or otherwise weird and different cars.

On a serious note, there was more than 1 Cortina in the rally? Are they rear wheel drive? How did they fare? Most people with old and obscure race cars don't push them real hard. More of just enjoying them in their intended element. I guess they must have been popular in their time. I am not very schooled when it comes to off road rally racing.

A serious note? You forget where you are? :ROFLMAO:

Like all forms of racing there are the Mega bux factory sponsored teams, the privateers and the wannabees and the youngns that "borrowed" mom's car.
There is a class for everyone. Unlimited, AWD, 4WD, 2WD bla bla.
The Cortinas are rear wheel drive and there was 3 of 'em. Overall they can't compete with the big boys, but do well within their class. Ya don't see any big american iron, this form of racing is dominated by small light weight cars. Power is king
Ya see Cortinas, Volvos, Mitsibishi, Escorts, and even an occasional V4 Saab. Anything small light and nimble.

Great pictures! Now the Saab, I recognized instantly. Doesn't mean I like it, just knew what it was. I have seen pictures ( videos actually ) of the races in Europe.
I'm surprised large quantities of people aren't killed quite often. The way they crowd the side of the race course "Death Wish" seems very accurate.
