OK, kids I bit the bullet today and ordered from Harbor Freight the 670 clone since none of you would. :lolgoku: With the 25% off coupon I saved $175.00 for a grand total of $565 and change with tax and $6.99 shipping. Now to figure out what clutches I need and design a cart around it. :censored: Has anybody heard anything about them? Power, reliability, anything?

Acording to a few reviews I've read about other harbour freight engines, they are all very good, i would say the 670cc should follow in the same footsteps. What clutch you looking for? Centrifugal or TC?

Sorry, torque converter. Yea I know all the one lungers are good engines I have a 420 I Just put on my Sears and Robuck 1972 suburban garden tractor. Runs like the devil never even bogged down when I was pushing my 10,000 pound tracked loader dozer.

TC, hmmm. You're gunna need something beefy because that engine kicks 22hp and a lot of torque, I would say something like a 94c duster if it will fit, someone with more knowledge will pipe up in a min

I don't like the duster series of clutches 4,500 rpm they fling the pucks out. Nothing like having a puck fly past your head at 150 mph. :censored:I used to sell and service E-Z-GO golf carts and used them as cheaper replacements with bad luck.
Mmmm that gives me an idea, golf cart clutches and belt! :idea2::devil2:

Aw, go ahead and post your first thought. I'm looking for cvt recommendations, although I might just go with E-Z-Go golf cart clutches since I have a new driver and rebuilt driven sitting on the shelf. Will need some machine work on them though. I'm thinking of solid mounting the engine and using a short jackshaft to go to the axle on a simple swing arm suspended rear axle. I do not like the idea of using the jackshaft as a pivot point for the rear suspension though. Is there any hop up parts for the 670 or things I can do to make it more reliable? Any idea on how reliable it is out of the box? What is the torque of the engine in ft. lbs.?

Blast away!

I would compare it directly to the honda gx670 which has 33.9 ft lbs or 46.0 newton meters@ 2500 rpm.
Best thing to do to keep it reliable is not hop it up. Do the proper break in, use synthetic oil and decent gas. Don't bypass governor.

Thing should weigh just under 100lbs dry!!

(This is assuming it's all the same as the honda)

Ok, you asked for it... :lolgoku:

Dude, that just made it worse!

My initial thought was If you've worked on larger engines with larger CVT setups, why are you asking us what we think? :roflol:

If you have a set sitting on a shelf, they're not doing you any good are they? Get 'em out & jump into the machining
