"Retardedly sensitive" - haha! Yeah, it may be easier to just roll with a single line from a split master cylinder. Which I have. I didn't want to go with a newer one (plastic tank with shared fluid). Anyway, NEW PICS:

Swing arm and jackshaft:

Discus stoppicus:

Added rubber:

Uh oh. The perspective from the front looks like I have a bent wheel hub in the back. IMPOSSIBLE!!! I will check that out next weekend.

Anyway, it's still fun to build. Goofing off and hanging out with my dad, kids, and grandfather . . .

Finally made a mount for the caliper. It's not pretty, but it should be strong and should work . . .

Sooooo tired . . . and burned my finger on a fresh weld. Tomorrow I will try again!

Moved engine to swing arm:

The jackshaft will be on the swing arm as well. 14.4:1 will be the test ratio. I'm not messing with the transaxle due to limited space. It feels small with me on it.

Nice. Can't wait to see it run.

What wheel hubs in the front are those?
Are you only running brakes on the rear wheel?

Not a tire-fryer by any stretch, but a tank to be sure. Looks like your tractor-style front swing axle will let you soak up some pretty serious terrain!

surpluscenter.com 5 on 4.5" steel (not cast iron) for 1" stubs (which I am using 1" bolts) I used the same on the back, but welded a washer to the ends of the hub with spacers inside to keep the bearings pressed against their races. . . and then drilled a hole through the hub and axle with a G8 1/4" bolt to act as a keyway . . . sort of . . . so the hubs are mounted solid to the rear axle.

Hey, toystory, I'm thinking about independent front suspension in the future . . . maybe . . . I have four coil over shocks that I ordered in as extras . . .

nak18 - Yes, brake system on rear axle only. I want to be able to switch to smaller tires if these prove to be too much for my gearing. Placing my rotors on the front hubs will work with these tires, but not the 8" rims and trailer tires I have as a backup plan.

I ordered more steel and welding rods from work. I was reading about 6013 rods - for shallow to medium penetration (but seems to make better looking welds). That's what I was using. I think I'll go back to 6011 for deeper penetration and hit those axle stubs again.
