Okay, Ive Got A 6.5 hp tecumseh engine,(a friend of mine let me have it) and nothing else....:furious2: i am decent at welding, so the frame is not a problem. I just need help with, well, everything else. :mad2: the main thing for me is what gear ratio to use, its going to be an offroad cart, but i still wana kick the back end out on pavement and the dirt.

its that shaft in the middle of the pic

and if you are building the frame yourself, you shouldnt need one.

Yeah Id go with a 9t engine sprocket and 60t axle. And maybe if you want to put some money into the engine get batman's hop up kit. Along with a 30 series torque converter that'll give you some more power break the tires loose. And maybe instead of getting knobby tires get some turf savers. I like to slide around too, So I purposely let my knobby tires go until theyre about bald. After that Im getting some turf savers. Have fun drivin' that thing sideways! lol And also, with such a high gear ratio you're not going to have very much top speed. You can take the gov off the engine but I wouldnt rev a stock tec passed like 4200rpm.

what size tires? and turf saver seems a lilttle to pansy for offroading, maybe packed dirt, but i mean some pretty rough trails, like 6/10 for a kart:cornut: and another thing, on the comet 30 the drive is keyed also, so how do i hook that up to just a bar stock live axle??

Is this the "wierd" kit from northerntool? if so, my go kart came with that setup, it does work but i would suggest pillow blocks, there cheaper and just as good.
