I got some spacers and two of them line up the sprockets right on the money. I just hope it will have enough shaft to mount the torque converter correctly. Just weird that there wasn't any spacers on it when I got it but oh well, hopefully this works.

Next issue:

I don't think my chain (420) is correct for the sprockets, looks a little too wide?? Should this be a 40 chain instead?

Unfortunately I can't do much about the axle sprocket at the moment since I can't get the left wheel off, so changing sprockets is out but maybe I should replace the chain??

#41 sprocket thickness
0.227"
Roller width 0.250"

#420 sprocket thickness
0.227"
Roller width 0.250"

#40 sprocket thickness

40 chain is wider than 420. Are you sure you don't have a 41/420 sprocket with a 40 chain?

You nailed it Bob, .227 sprockets , .313 roller width. Looks like I need a new chain.
