Maybe this can help someone else....

Now....most people have probably heard of "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "....or PTSD.... but only related it to returning war veterans....

Well...for some reason, I came across the symptoms and description and a light bulb came on....

You know, you don't have to be a war veteran to suffer from this....in my case...it was Cancer, but anything that puts you face to face with death can trigger this....

Once I started reading the symptoms and connected them to the fact I had indeed been in a battle for my life...it became very clear...

Now....I just need to seek some help....(it be nice to be "normal" again.....)

Ahhhhh.....that ain't happening....(who am I kidding? )...but back to the "happy" nut I was before! !!

My ex suffers from PTSD as a result of a car crash...

Kinda gunshy in a car, don't like air travel at all, will try one day dragracing.... On a bike... Cause I'm in control...

Many many car accidents, many close calls and near death experiences, and I'm still pushing myself.

That's not to say all of that hasn't scared me ----less, and given me some bad...side effects. It's just that, I'm there is no "normal" anymore, and what's the point of living if you can't truly live and have fun?

I will be weird, crazy me and have fun until the day I die.

My cardiologist told me i have ptsd because of my medical history.
2007 a "widow maker" heart attack that they said most people die from having 100% block.
2011 85% blockage due to first stint, some chest pains but prevented 2nd heart attack.
2013 now a defribulator due to output of blood flow is just over 50% of normal.

He said the defib is what pushed me over the edge since it bothers me that i have it because i could drop at any time.
So i get panic attacks and anxiety from all this, horrible feeling.

Yeah, the anxiety or panic attacks are the worst.....it must be really bad when your heart is a concern, because my pulse goes crazy and I feel my blood pressure go through the roof when I have one.

Yeah it is rough, palpatations are scary. Couple of times i actually thought i was having another heart attack with the sweating and tight chest.

I too suffer from PTSD, depression and panic and anxiety. Lost some of the use of my right hand and arm from the elbow down at age 30 in a fall at work and had 2 heart attacks at age 32. Thank God I can work past it!

Don't forget too. women can go mentally crazy [not just woman problems] after having kids.. I forget what its called, by all my friends who have kids. I keep an eye out on them for the first few months [when its most likely to happen] but its a good thing to know the signs... just like knowing the signs for heat stroke, and choking

I think if everyone payed a little more attention around them, they have the possibility to help someone who's not having the best of times. even if your life sucks..

I mean absolutely no offence to you personally, Mike, the following is merely a concerned observation of mine...

The hippocratic oath says that medical practitioners are meant to sustain life to the best of their abilities but, at what point is sustained life outweighed by quality of life? Using Mike's situation, just as an example, you have heart conditions which could be fatal at any point in time so, you have measures in place to prevent that from happening...

Now, here's the twist, the result of having those measures in place means that other potentially life threatening conditions arise, which can make the original condition worse; at what point is the cure worse than the condition?

I'm sorry Fabro, but that's kind of like asking how much a single life is worth, as an example.

Quality of life vs no quality (ie no life, death)

There is no limit. The only point that the cure is worse than the condition is when the cure involves a loss of life imo.

As long as that individual person wants to live, and conciously makes that choice, then that's all that matters. If that cure, that treatment given to me keeps me alive, allows me to see my kids another day, the ones I love, then it's well worth it.

Life, in any state is better than death.

Yes even a vegitative state, or an unconcious state.

The reason I say that is because with life there is always a chance.

With death...well that's it, games over, go home folks.

I would rather have a slim to none chance, than give up completely.
