old Manco stinger build

Hi guys, I have an old manco stinger from when i was a kid it's basically just a frame now the seats are gone and the engine's gone. my plan is to put a predator engine on it and I had a couple of questions. the sprocket on it is 80 tooth what kind of clutch do i need and what chain size? I'm trying to keep it on a tight budget. it'll be a week or so before i paint it and get things going i'll try and add pic's later

80 tooth... You'll need to know the pitch, whether it's #35 or #41 chain. (⅜" vs ½" pitch). Measuring the tooth spacing on the sprocket will work, or measuring the pitch diameter of the sprocket (measured from about half the depth of the teeth) and dividing . A centrifugal clutch with a matched sprocket should do just fine, or you could use a TAV2 torque converter kit.

Thanks! I'll measure it tomorrow. what about the tooth size on the clutch? also forgot to mention its single wheel drive.

To answer that question, we need a few more details:
- rear tyre height
- size of the kart; a few pics will suffice...

80 tooth is most likely a #35 chain. I have one on a little go kart. I have used an 11 & 12 tooth clutch on it. Picking the right clutch (5/8 or 3/4 inch) will be based on the drive shaft of the engine you use. This is a 13x5x6 tire (on 6x5.5 inch wheel), 80 tooth #35 sprocket, 12 tooth 3/4 bore clutch.

It all fits together very nicely... just don't expect massive torque or speed with this simple one wheel peel setup.
