Old Carter Go Cart

Hey all, I have this old Carter go cart. It has a belt driven centrical clutch on it that goes to the pulley on the jack shaft. I would like to convert it to a torque converter. Has anyone ever done this?

Nice, thankfully your kart’s model number is evident: 1435. What I would do is emulate the Carter Brothers model 1735 which is the same frame but used a 20 series torque converter:

That way you can utilize your karts current jackshaft. EDIT: and gearing. The sprocket sizes and tooth count is the same across both karts.

Can't tell from the pic's, but it looks like you still have the oh so coveted wheel hub/sprocket adaptor on yours. Lots of guys looking for that piece lately.

I ended up picking up a generic amazon 30 series TQ if I remember. Driver, driven and belts. But, I used an actual Comet belt. Only use a real Comet belt. Denny agrees.
