I am working on a yz 125 shifter kart build. I have most parts and right now working on the linkage. The linkage is always hitting the seat because of the angle it goes to. Is it ok if I bend the J arm so the place it mounts to is above the shaft it connects to?

:useless: Visuals needed!!! The term "J arm" can refer to several different things, which will have a direct impact on the answer you are looking for.....

Sorry the J arm I am referring to is the one from sharkshifter.com which is this one to be exact..

Basically I just want to bend the arm back so the part where my track rod will bolt to will be directly over the part where the arm hooks to the engine. Will almost look like a "Z" when it is done.

I thank you for the pic; I THINK I understand what you have in mind. As far as bending the arm, you should be OK: what we need here on the site is a larger overview of the chassis, with the layout of the linkages in question. What's even more important, is that the real experts will take what I might consider real information, and point out just where my knowledge fails.....

Got a torch it could bend, but im thinking you might need to cut and weld it in the needed direction.
