what brand is it? how hard will it be to make it a live axle? any help will be appreciated

Good deal, does the engine run?

It wouldn't be that hard to convert it. The simple way is to cut off the stubs & attach the new axle to the underside of the frame. Keep in mind, though, that this could raise the back end a few inches, which shouldn't really be a problem, unless you do it properly. Can you weld?

yes the engine is solid he told me he maybe has 15 hours on it. it was on a water pump. and as for the welding no i have never welded but want to learn. but i can get a buddy from a machine shop to weld it for me. whats a good welder to start off??

That's a loaded question; everyone has a different opinion on that. You could ask 3 people that question & get 4 different answers. It all comes down to what you feel most comfortable & confident with.

For me: I have a small (130amp) gas/gasless MIG currently running gasless wire; it's not ideal but it does the job. If I had a choice (meaning the money) I'd have a 250amp gas MIG.

The best thing to do is have a go & see which one you pick up quickest; that usually works out to be the right one.
