Im stumped and need some help. I have been using predator engine on my mini bikes and I keep getting a oil leak out of both of them. In the same spot. with one I even pulled it apart made a cork gasket and form-a-gasket around the bolt holes. Waited 24 hours before I put oil back in it then took it for 1 short ride and now it is leaking again. The only thing I can think of it it seemed to start when I put torque converter on each bike. I know it does not go into the engine so common sense tells me that cant be it. But im out of options. Anybody ran across this??

Sounds to me that you used a bolt that was too long for the mounting plate and broke through. But since you didnt specify where or put a pic that is my 2cents

"They are both leaking in the same spot."
uh where?

Chancer is spot on with his question; the only way we can begin to help you is if you provide some clean, in focus photos of the issue and it's location. You need to remember that we don't have any mind readers here, and if we actually do have one as a member, they haven't come forward yet. (Must be that whole Kaitlyn thing....)

[EDIT] you're photo posted at 3:19 Eastern time is basically useless. All we have is spot's on the floor. We need multiple pic's from multiple angles. Pulling the TC unit would be even better.

:iagree: :iagree: But without actual pic's from multiple angles, all you and I can do is guess.

I'm with you, though: I've seen journeymen in several different trade's make the same mistake.. (I really like the one's who are five to ten years younger than me; you know, the kind that, when you make that kind of observation in their presence grabs some fancy framed piece of paper off their work bench and proceed to try to tell me they've forgotten more about my job than I'll ever know.)

The last time it went all the way to the owner's attention: I got stuck dealing with the mess. Only with the caveat that said "Journeyman" had better start remembering some of the knowledge that this old school machinist/machine builder never forgot in the first place.......

Since Im not sure what kind of pics you wanted I decided to take the engine out and bolted it to a work bench. Its been running for 15 min now with no leaks.

Is the oil contaminated with gas?

The only time I had a leak of fluids... Was when I had not turned off the fuel petcock.
Fuel seeped in the crank case, then started to leak. I had half a tank of fuel/oil mix.

Tighten bolts into the mounting holes and run it on your bench then see if it leaks. Maybe ML was onto something.

Im pretty sure it was not a gas issue. I took the last engine back because I thought it was a defect. I got this engine out of the box. Set it up and got the same result. I checked to make sure that I did pop through the bolt holes also. I'm in the middle putting the jackshaft back in and try that. Because I didn't have any issues when it on there. But on my best idea without any pics to show...... is coming from the bottom right of the engine where you set up the jackshaft. ( sorry I dont know the name of the part outside the cover. ) All I know what ever I am doing I am doing it twice on both engines.

Well I mounted the engine and had to walk away for a few min when I came back it started leaking again. I checked the oil plug and its sung. So I got pissed and walked away for the night. Tomorrow I will try to get some pics in.

See I missed that part...

The only thing I can think of is the block isn't flat or the shaft seal is being damaged?
