I have a gx160 and the crank case cover is leaking. I got a new gasket and it didn't fit the problem. I even put RTV on it. It leakes on the bottom, and more towards the front of the cover. If you were looking at it from the side, left hand corner.

any ideas? there are no cracks.

thanks

Are the mating surfaces in good condition? Did you clean the surfaces carefully and thoroughly without gouging them? did you torque the bolts to mfr spec with a torque wrench? Are you sure it's a gasket leak?

I cleaned both surfaces, I'm guessing it's the gasket. I haven't torqued them to specs but there pretty tight

You don't torque bolts to ensure they're nice and tight, you torque them to ensure they're not too loose and not too tight. There's a spec for a reason. Seems like the spec was 17 ft/lbs or so. in/lb wrench is better to use, so 204 in/lbs.
