Hey guys,

I'm hoping you can help. I had the motor running last week just fine for the first time. Then I stored my kart up on end and oil went into the head. I took everything apart and cleaned it but now it won't turn over. Everything appears to be clean and I'm getting a spark but it just won't fire. Any ideas? Thanks.:auto:

I appear to have all three but it just won't fire.. Has anyone here ever gotten oil into their cylinder head. I can't believe it happened really. The rings should seal it from getting in there.

So I used some carb cleaner and sprayed it into the carb and was able to get it running with the choke off but when I tried to throttle it, it would die. Probably an air leak on the carb?

If the intake valve was open, oil mighta backed up into your intake and carb, and then I supose its possible oil coulda slowly worked its way through your main jet and filled your carbs float bowl. You might try popping that off for a quick peak inside.

I see it all the time and doesn't matter if valves are open or closed, good rings or not. Happens with new engines. Store any lawnmower on it's side and try to start it in just a couple of hours. Unlikely it can be pulled past compression cycle.
Any time an engine is stored it should be kept parallel to the ground, or oil (inevitably) will end up where it's not supposed to be.
Oil should be drained if engine is stored in any position other than parallel to the ground. Common sense.
Unnecessary to disassemble anything. Removal of spark plug and a few spins of engine via recoil will clear it.
Check oil level, replace plug and start. Will smoke for a few minutes, but will clear itself.
I appear to have all three...
Clearly not.
Fuel supply is the problem. Number 1 on the list.

Thanks Anderkart! I took the bowl off and it just poured out oil and gas. Cleaned everything with carb cleaner and put it back together and it fired right up! Thanks for being specific. It's been a while since I disassembled a gas engine.
