Does it matter which direction the oil expander ends face up or down?

Oil ring?
All 4 stroke engines l have worked on have 3 peace oil rings 1expander and 2 wipers
Place expander in grove do not over lap ends then place wiper 1 each. In grove over the small space at top and bottom of expander place gap of wipers for and aft of expander gap

If there is no directions and there is markings on the wiper rings I always put the markings up

150 gy6. I got both compression ring facing up. Both have the letter A . I see ppl saying make sure the ends on the oil ring face up and then some say down. I didn't think it mattered. Is there a right or wrong way with the oil ring as long as the ends but up and don't overlap?And would the chrome ring be the top compression ring? I didn't get any directions with the rings.

top and second ring should be of different color; top is usually a lighter color...
BUT much more important than color is SHAPE!
the top ring has a rounded shape (the face that's against the cylinder wall is rounded that is
)
the second ring is asymmetrical; the lower edge is ever so slightly wider than the upper.
(it has distinct sharp corners though compared to the top ring!)
both (top and second) should have a marking on the top.
likely A (top) and B (second) sometimes A is just marked with a T though indicating the top ring
(as it's symmetrical it shouldn't matter which way around it's installed other than for good practice)
the oil rings are AFAIK identical to one another and it makes no difference as to which one is the upper and which is the lower
and IIRC it doesn't even matter in which orientation they're installed.

I got the top ring, chrome with letter T facing up. and 2nd is darker with the T facing up? I didn't see any bevel of any sort on either top or bottom ring seemed pretty squared on all ends.is this correct?
