Oil cooling a gx240

I was wondering if their would be any benefits to oil cooling a Honda gx240 and would it take to much oil from the dipper even if the added volume is accounted for in the cooling system. And it has a low oil shutdown so you could monitor your level. But I've been wrong before.

Do you have overheating issues at the moment? I just don't know why (or how) you would want to achieve oil cooling a gx240.

Since the motor is forced air already... it will be a detriment to the overall performance.

No need to add more cooling....

I don't have an issue at the moment I just want to preven it from happening in the first place. I was thinking of running a line from one of the drain bolt holes to a pump then to a rad then back into the engine through the other drain bolt hole, not sure if it would work though.

It should help a little bit. I'd run a head temp gauge to see where it's at, only problem is, I've never seen any documentation on what the head temperature should be under load conditions. I've heard about 250*F is where it should be, but can't find anything to confirm or such.

Another thing, most engines in the V-twin setup for mowers and what not, usually have an oil cooler and an oil filter, mostly to help extend oil change intervals, but to help increase engine life. So it may help theoretically. You looking at the EcoTrons' pump and cooler?

I'm wasn't looking at any kit in particular, I was planning on fabricating my own system.

You can do whatever you want, but I just don't think it is necessary. I don't think you would see enough cooling improvement to alter the lifespan or how well the engine runs.

Is it a newer GX240 (270cc but smaller carb) or an older one that is 240cc?

Here's the thing, those engines were designed to sit still (sometimes, under cover) & run @3600rpm ALL DAY so, I'm thinking oil cooling won't really provide any benefit...

It is an older engine that Is 242cc. You guys are probably right about the slim to none benifit of the oil cooler, thanks for all the input.
