Oil Change

Wanting to do an oil change on my kart now since I got it running...its an older 5 HP briggs...

wondering what weight oil I should use?

Couldn't find anything using the search.

I agree, Unless you are gonna run it in 'below 0 degree weather, I recommend 30 SAE - Non detergent. If, by any chance, you are gonna run it in below 0 degree weather, get 5W-30. I guess it makes it a lot easier to start and helps keep the engine running in good condition, but I ride my karts throughout winter almost everyday, and still use 30 SAE and have no problems.

You caught me- I run multigrade. I assumed that the OP was not going to run that cold- how cold does PA get? :worried2:

I use sae 30 in everything. Even my car. I let it run for a minute or two in the winter though. Straight oils have been "modified" less and last longer before breakdown.

PA can get COLD in the winter, maybe not as cold as CT but pretty dang cold, but I wont be riding it in the winter time anyways...I guess SAE 30 it is, will be picking some up soon...
